The closer the relationship, the bigger the challenges. People invest themselves and old patterns can emerge in ways that prevent the individuals from obtaining the relationship they desire.
It can be important to find a space where the parties together can explore what is happening and how they each and together can do things differently. Couple’s therapy is this space.
The therapist (and sometimes co-therapist, as I also do couple’s therapy with a colleague) will support the parties in discovering their own and joint patterns and explore different ways of building the relationship they individually and together wish for.
